Jim Carollo is a mathematical genius who gained his abilities after surviving a car accident when he was 14 years old.
Not much is known about Carollo's life prior to the accident. It is widely accepted that he didn't care much about math during his school before that event took place.
When Jim Carollo was 14-years-old he was involved in a car accident that took his mother's life and put him in a coma. Carollo suffered extensive brain, and the doctors didn’t think he’d live more than a few weeks.
He survived against all odds. It took him about 6 weeks to wake up from the coma. Carolla then began the long, slow process of physical rehabilitation. Soon, he was able to return to school, and that’s when he realized that he would never be a normal teenager again.
While Carollo wasn't very interested in math, the car crash made him a true genius on this subject. Without studying, he aced his high school geometry Mastery test and then passed every calculus exam with ease.
In addition, Carollo gained the ability to quickly memorize numbers after taking a single look at them. For example, he learned the first 250 digits of pi in a little over a day. Over the years he was also able to memorize a massive amount of phone numbers, bank accounts, school locker combinations, and other numbers. After the accident, Carollo was able to do quick calculations and recall them easily.
