Early Life and Academic Training
Rauch lost his parents, Hanno Rauch and Helga Wand, in a train accident when he was four weeks old. He was raised by his grandparents in Aschersleben, where he completed his Abitur at the Thomas-Müntzer-Oberschule. He later returned to Leipzig to study at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, where he eventually worked as an assistant to faculty members from 1993 to 1998.
