Early Career and Balkan Foundations
Vidić began playing football at age six with Jedinstvo Užice before transitioning to Sloboda Užice at 12. Before turning 15, he joined the Red Star Belgrade youth system. His senior career launched with a loan spell at Spartak Subotica in 2000. Upon returning to Red Star under coach Zoran Filipović, he secured the 2001–02 Yugoslav Cup and eventually served as team captain. In July 2004, Vidić transferred to Spartak Moscow, becoming the most expensive defender in the history of the Russian Premier League at that time. His performance attracted international attention, leading to a £7 million move to Manchester United on 5 January 2006. The transfer followed a period of competition with Fiorentina, as United intervened to secure his signature. He made his debut on 25 January 2006 against Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup.
The Manchester United Era
At Manchester United, Vidić established a defensive partnership with Rio Ferdinand. Between 2006 and 2014, his tenure included five Premier League titles, three League Cups, five FA Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2008 UEFA Champions League.
