Najat Vallaud-Belkacem

French-Moroccan politician

Najat Vallaud-Belkacem (born 1977) is a French jurist, university teacher and politician. Vallaud-Belkacem was born in Tangier on 4 October 1977.

Vallaud-Belkacem served as conseiller régional de Rhône-Alpes (2004–2008), municipal councillor of Lyon (2008–2013), member of the general council (2008–2014) and Government spokesperson of France (in 2012). She was attached to Sciences Po.

Vallaud-Belkacem was awarded Young Leader of the French American Foundation (2006) and Knight of the National Order of Merit (2022). She took part in World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2013. She was elected to French-American Foundation. She was educated at University of Picardie Jules Verne and Sciences Po.

Vallaud-Belkacem married Boris Vallaud. She is recorded as following Muslim.
