The title of Heir Apparent of the Kingdom of Morocco has been held by Moulay Hassan since his birth on 8 May 2003 in Rabat. As the eldest child of King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma, he occupies a central position within the Moroccan royal family, having been named after his grandfather, the late King Hassan II.
Education and Academic Background
Moulay Hassan received his primary, middle, and high school education at the Collège Royal in Rabat. In 2020, he earned a high school diploma with honors following examinations at the Lycée Dar es Salaam. He subsequently enrolled at the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences of the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic on the Rabat campus in Salé. Majoring in international relations, he completed his master's degree in May 2025 and began work on a doctoral thesis. His linguistic repertoire includes Arabic, French, Spanish, English, and Berber, with additional coursework in Mandarin Chinese.

From his teenage years, Moulay Hassan has held commissioned ranks within the Moroccan military structure. He served as a Colonel in the Royal Guard, the Royal Army, and the Royal Air Force. In 2025, he advanced to the rank of Colonel-Major within the Royal Armed Forces. He currently holds the position of Coordinator of the Offices and Services of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, a role that integrates him into the operational oversight of the nation's defense apparatus.
Public Engagements and Representation
Beginning in 2013, the Prince commenced participation in official state functions alongside his father. His international presence notably included the 2017 One Planet Summit in France, where he was the youngest participant. He has frequently represented the King at high-level events, such as the 2019 launch of the Tanger Med II port and the funeral of French President Jacques Chirac in Paris. In 2022, he presided over the inauguration of the International Exhibition and Museum of the Biography of the Prophet and Islamic Civilization at the ICESCO headquarters in Rabat.
Personal Interests and Allocations
Outside of official duties, Moulay Hassan has engaged in various sporting activities, including football, basketball, and horse riding, the latter being a pursuit monitored by King Mohammed VI. During his youth, he played football at the Royal Armed Forces training center in Maamoura. Beyond sports, he has expressed an interest in rap music, specifically the work of Moroccan artist ElGrandeToto. As part of his royal status, the Royal Armed Forces allocated a Gulfstream G650 private jet for his use in 2018.
