He returned to top-flight football in 2006 upon signing with FC Sochaux, where he secured the 2007 Coupe de France title. His performance attracted Olympique de Marseille, which acquired him in June 2007 for a transfer fee of $11 million.
International Impact
Ziani made his international debut for Algeria in 2003. His influence became most apparent during the qualifying campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where his decisive cross helped secure Algeria's first appearance at the tournament since 1986.
