On 1 October 2024, Karin Rådström assumed the position of CEO at Daimler Truck, becoming only the second woman to lead a corporation listed on the German DAX stock index. A Swedish executive with an engineering background, she oversees one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, following a trajectory that began in the heavy vehicle sector nearly two decades ago.
Early Education and Career Beginnings
Born in Södertälje in 1979, Rådström spent part of her childhood in Nynäshamn and Toronto, Ontario. Her academic foundations were established at Queen's University at Kingston, where she studied for one year. She later earned a degree as a civil engineer, specializing in Industrial Engineering and Sustainability, from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Her professional career commenced in 2004 when she joined Scania as a trainee in Södertälje.
Progression Through Scania
During her tenure at Scania, Rådström held various roles before moving into international management. She served as the Director of Pre Sales and Marketing Communication in Kenya. By 2016, she assumed the role of head of the Scania Bus Business. Her rise continued in 2019 when she was appointed to the company's Board of Management with specific responsibilities for sales and marketing.

In February 2021, Rådström joined the Board of Management of Daimler Truck. By May of that year, her portfolio expanded to include leadership of the Mercedes-Benz truck brand. As part of a seven-person management team, she was tasked with overseeing operations across Europe and Latin America. This period culminated in her 2024 appointment as Vorstandsvorsitzende of the organization.
Athletic Pursuits
Outside of the corporate sphere, Rådström maintained a background as an elite athlete. During the latter part of the 2000s, she competed in rowing, representing the Swedish national team for three years. She is married to Daniel Rådström, and they have two children.
