Early Career and Technical Training
Hahto spent his early career establishing his presence in the Finnish music landscape through bands such as Arthemesia, Max on the Rox, and the grindcore group Rotten Sound. In 2014, Hahto stepped into the role of drummer for the symphonic metal group Nightwish, replacing Jukka Nevalainen during a period of hiatus necessitated by health concerns. His initial engagement involved recording the studio album Endless Forms Most Beautiful and managing live performance duties. By July 2019, Hahto transitioned into the role of permanent drummer for the band after Nevalainen formally decided to step down permanently.
Collaborative Projects and Touring
Beyond his primary roles, Hahto maintained an extensive touring and recording schedule. Between 2009 and 2012, he served as a touring musician for the doom-death metal band Swallow the Sun, completing approximately 300 performances. His career additionally includes contributions to acts such as The Crescent and Trees of Eternity. By December 2020, he expanded his professional commitments by joining the newly reformed black metal project Darkwoods My Betrothed.
