A professional contract signed at sixteen years and five months of age marked the start of Zion Suzuki's career with the Urawa Red Diamonds. Early Development in Japan
Moving from the United States to Urawa, Saitama, during his youth, Suzuki began his path into football while in kindergarten. He progressed through the junior and youth academy systems at Urawa Red Diamonds. While training with the club, he attended N High School, a correspondence institution. Outside of his athletic commitments, he maintains an interest in golf and the music of AK-69.
Professional Emergence
Suzuki debuted for the Urawa Red Diamonds on 2 March 2021 against Shonan Bellmare in the J.League Cup, recording a clean sheet. By May 2021, he secured a starting role in the J1 League, earning the New Hero Award for his performance that season. His time with the club included victories in the 2022 AFC Champions League, the 2021 Emperor's Cup, and the 2022 Japanese Super Cup.

In August 2023, Suzuki joined the Belgian side Sint-Truiden on loan, serving as understudy to Daniel Schmidt before gaining the starting position. By July 2024, the arrangement became a permanent transfer. He subsequently moved to the Serie A club Parma on a five-year deal, becoming the second Japanese player to represent the team after Hidetoshi Nakata.
Premier League and International Play
Following a collapsed move to Paris Saint-Germain in August 2026, Suzuki signed with the Premier League club Aston Villa. His debut for Villa occurred on 31 August 2026. Shortly thereafter, he became the first Japanese goalkeeper to appear in the UEFA Champions League. Internationally, he earned his first cap against Hong Kong in 2022 and competed in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Standing 1.90m tall, Suzuki is noted for his physical build.
