During the 1959-1960 season, he was a semi-regular performer on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Filmmaking and Directorial Recognition
Beatty evolved from acting into a comprehensive filmmaker, producing, writing, and directing multiple projects. He received the Academy Award for Best Director for his 1981 film Reds, in which he also starred as John Reed. Throughout his career, he secured nominations for fourteen Academy Awards.
