Formative years and education

Lachey gained national attention in 1998 by winning the Miss Teen USA title, becoming the first contestant from South Carolina to achieve this honor. She also received the Miss Congeniality award during the competition. This recognition served as a catalyst for her television career. Between 2003 and 2007, she held hosting duties for MTV programs including The Morning After and Total Request Live. In 2005, she expanded her broadcasting scope as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.
Transition to scripted television
Throughout her career, Lachey appeared in various episodic roles on shows such as 30 Rock, Psych, and Hawaii Five-O. She secured a recurring role as Amy in the 2008 film Disaster Movie and later joined the cast of NBC's sitcom Truth Be Told in 2015. Her most prominent acting role came in 2021 when she was cast as Jane Tennant in NCIS: Hawaiʻi, making her the first female lead in the NCIS franchise. The series ran for three seasons before concluding in May 2024.
Hosting and literary projects
Lachey has hosted numerous competition series, including True Beauty and Wipeout. In 2020, she began co-hosting the Netflix series Love Is Blind alongside her husband, Nick Lachey.
