Indian philosopher, activist and environmentalist (*1952)

Vandana Shiva (born 1952) is an Indian philosopher, activist and environmentalist. Shiva was born in Dehradun on 5 November 1952.

Shiva is best known for Staying Alive, The Violence of the Green Revolution: Third World Agriculture, Ecology, and Politics and Earth Democracy. She was attached to Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and Indian Institute of Management Amritsar.

The honours on record include Right Livelihood Award (1993), Sydney Peace Prize (2010), Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize (2012), Thomas Merton Award (2011) and LennonOno Grant for Peace (2008). Shiva appeared at International endorsement letter. Barcelona leads the way and Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2023. She studied at University of Western Ontario, Panjab University and University of Guelph.
