Early life and education
Born on 22 April 1938 in Jaffa, Mandatory Palestine, he was the son of a businessman involved with oil companies and a mother of Syrian descent. Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, his family relocated to Lebanon. He attended the American University of Beirut, balancing his studies with work as a teacher and translator. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1960.

Abu-Ghazaleh has centered his career on accounting and the protection of intellectual property rights within the Arab world. His involvement in public service included a tenure as a senator in the Jordanian Upper House between 2010 and 2011, and he later served again in the same body in 2016. He held a position on the WTO Panel on Defining the Future of Trade in Geneva in 2012.
Awards and cultural initiatives
His work has earned various international honors, including the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur from France in 1985 and the Order of the Republic from Tunisia the same year. In addition to his business ventures, he has engaged in various cultural patronages, including support for the Freunde der Salzburger Festspäele and the establishment of the Jordanian National Orchestra Association in 2014.
Publications and organizations
He has authored numerous specialized reference works, including the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh ICT Dictionary, the Legal Dictionary, and the Dictionary of Patents, all released between 2012 and 2013. He has also chaired the International Arab Society of Certified Accountants in London since 1985, an organization that maintains consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
