During his time at the Reebok Stadium, he made 87 appearances and scored his only goal in the division on 1 February 2005 against Tottenham Hotspur. His tenure included a notable UEFA Cup appearance against Beşiktaş where he captained the side. However, his 2006 appearance against Marseille ended in misfortune when he scored an own goal, contributing to a 2–1 loss.
Chelsea and Manchester City
Ben Haim joined Chelsea on a four-year deal in June 2007. Initially a regular starter, he later fell to fourth-choice status. He publicly criticized manager Avram Grant, resulting in an £80,000 fine. In July 2008, he signed with Manchester City for £5 million, opting for his preferred number 26 shirt.
