Sergio Ramos established himself as a dominant presence in European football over a career spanning two decades. Emerging from the youth academy of Sevilla, he transitioned into a record-breaking transfer for Real Madrid in 2005. Early Career and Sevilla Origins

Born in Camas in 1986, Ramos began his progression through the Sevilla youth system alongside contemporaries like Jesús Navas and Antonio Puerta. He secured his first-team debut on 1 February 2004 during a match against Deportivo La Coruña. By the 2004–05 season, he established himself as a regular contributor, appearing in 41 games and scoring his initial continental goal in the UEFA Cup.

The Real Madrid Era

In 2005, Real Madrid acquired Ramos for €27 million, setting a transfer record for a Spanish defender. Over his long tenure, he secured 22 major honours, including five La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies. Frequently cited for his aerial ability and physical defensive style, he also demonstrated an unusual goalscoring instinct for his position, netting over 100 goals for the club.

International Milestones

Ramos represented the Spanish national team from 2005 to 2021, setting a record of 180 caps over his sixteen-year tenure. He participated in four FIFA World Cups, winning the tournament in 2010. His international career also included victories in three UEFA European Championships, where he played a pivotal role in the squads that secured titles in 2008 and 2012.

Later Professional Ventures

Following his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Ramos joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he spent two seasons and won Ligue 1 twice. He returned to his original club, Sevilla, for one season before transitioning to Liga MX side Monterrey. During his time in Mexico, he served as team captain and participated in the inaugural expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
