Sergio Daniel Puglia Silva began his professional life in Montevideo, establishing a multifaceted career that spans gastronomy, broadcasting, and business management. Born in 1950, he transitioned from the culinary arts to media prominence in Uruguay, eventually serving as a public face for international television formats while maintaining significant roles in the national hospitality sector.

Culinary and Hospitality Management

Puglia served as the gastronomic director for Buquebus until 1993. His professional portfolio included managing the restaurant Luciano Federico, a property owned by Juan Carlos López Mena, alongside the operation of his own venue, Puglia Restaurante. Beyond direct management, he established the Technical Hotel Institute of Uruguay, where he continues to serve as a gastronomy professor. His educational background includes reported studies in hospitality and gastronomy at the University of Salzburg, Austria.

Broadcasting and Television Career

His television career launched with the program El Club de la Buena Vida on National Television. Starting in 1990, he began presenting the interview series Puglia Invita, which migrated from National Television to Channel 10. Over the following decades, his screen presence expanded through programs including TVEO a Diario, La Noche, Malas Compañías, Puglia & Compañía, Con gusto, and En su salsa. Between 2017 and 2019, he served as a judge for four seasons of MasterChef Uruguay, as well as the spin-offs MasterChef Profesionales and MasterChef Celebrity. He also contributes to the panel of Polémica en el Bar and co-hosts the radio program Al Pan Pan on Radio Sarandí alongside Jaime Clara.

Public Life and Recognition

Puglia received the Legión del Libro Prize and the Iris Award for his work. In January 2016, he announced his engagement to Horacio Correa; the pair married on November 23 of that year. The wedding drew 600 attendees, including notable cultural and political figures such as Susana Giménez, Rúben Rada, and former President Julio María Sanguinetti. His political engagement includes support for the National Party, having signed a 2019 document endorsing Luis Lacalle Pou and participating in the 2024 presidential primary campaign for Álvaro Delgado Ceretta via the Lista 5 electoral group.
