His career spanned from executive management roles at major Swedish corporations to the operation of his private investment vehicle, which held significant stakes in companies such as Securitas AB, Assa Abloy, Hexagon AB, and Loomis.

Education and Early Professional Path

Born in 1947 in Arboga Municipality, Sweden, Schörling pursued his tertiary education at the University of Gothenburg. He graduated from the School of Business, Economics and Law before establishing his presence within the Swedish business landscape. His professional history includes an affiliation with the Stockholm School of Economics.

Executive Leadership

In 1987, Schörling assumed the role of CEO at Securitas AB. He subsequently transitioned to a leadership position at Skanska, working during the tenure of chair Percy Barnevik. These roles preceded his shift toward managing personal investment interests, a strategy that would define the latter portion of his career.

Schörling founded Melker Schörling AB (MSAB) to consolidate his business interests. In August 2006, he announced the transition of MSAB to a public entity, listing the firm on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Alongside this listing, he installed a board of directors that included Stefan Persson and Carl-Henric Svanberg.

Succession and Retirement

In 2017, Schörling resigned from all positions within his company, citing health concerns. His daughters, Sophia and Märta, assumed responsibilities within the firm. Schörling, who resided in Stockholm throughout much of his career, passed away on 10 December 2023 in Nyköping at the age of 76.
