The portrayal of the villain Lady Srisudachan in the 2001 film The Legend of Suriyothai brought Mai Charoenpura to international prominence. Directed by Chatrichalerm Yukol, this production received a theatrical release in the United States in 2003, marking a significant milestone in her extensive career as a multifaceted performer within the Thai entertainment landscape.

Early Development and Background

Born on 5 January 1969 in Bangkok, Thailand, Charoenpura is the daughter of actor Surin, professionally known as Ruj Ronnapop, and Winee Sontikool. She grew up in a household with four daughters, counting the actress Intira Charoenpura as one of her three sisters. She was formerly known by the name Mai Siriwimol before establishing her professional identity.

Musical Discography and Performances

Charoenpura has maintained a consistent presence in the music industry since 1989, releasing numerous studio albums and performing in various concerts. Her discography includes major studio efforts such as Mai Muan, Mai Mai Kid Fai, and Always Mai Sa-Mer. Beyond her solo studio work, she participated in special collaborative projects, including two volumes of the Seven album series in 2000 and a four-volume tribute collection to Phumphuang in 2003 and 2004. In 2007, she performed at a concert in Manchester, an event arranged by former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to mark his acquisition of Manchester City F.C.

Television and Film Career

Her acting career spans decades, beginning with television roles in the 1980s. She gained recognition for playing the character Pring in Khon Rerng Muang, a role she revisited in both 1988 and 2002. Later, she appeared in the 2009 film Meat Grinder and the 2010 horror anthology Die a Violent Death alongside actors Akara Amarttayakul and Supaksorn Chaimongkol. Her work on television continued with significant drama roles, including Yoi in the 2019 Channel 3 drama Krong Kam and Dujhong in the 2022 series Sarb Sorn Ruk.
