In his seminal 1958 text, Conrad proposed a gestalt analysis of delusions. This work introduced specific conceptual terms such as 'Trema', 'Apophänie', and 'Überstieg' to describe the phenomenology of schizophrenic progression. Aaron Mishara later characterized these contributions as significant developments within the fields of neuropsychology and psychopathology, noting their impact on clinical case reporting as observed by Frank Fish in 1960.
Academic Leadership and Legacy
From 1958 until his death in 1961, Conrad served as a professor of psychiatry and neurology at the University of Göttingen. He also functioned as the director of the University Psychiatric Hospital during this period. After his passing in Göttingen at age 56, his theoretical approach continued to receive scholarly attention, notably through a 2010 English-language summary of his work.
