Filip Kostić made his professional debut at age 17 with Radnički Kragujevac, the club where he initiated a career as a versatile left midfielder and wing-back. His trajectory across multiple European leagues has included significant tenures in the Eredivisie, Bundesliga, Serie A, and the Turkish Süper Lig, marked by consistent play-making contributions and international representation for Serbia.
Early Career and Move to the Netherlands
After emerging from the youth ranks at Radnički Kragujevac, Kostić moved to the Netherlands in June 2012 to join Groningen. His integration into the Eredivisie was gradual, but by the 2013–14 season, he established himself as a prominent offensive threat. A pivotal performance came on 20 October 2013, when he scored the winning goal in a 1–0 result against PSV Eindhoven.
Development in the Bundesliga
In 2014, Kostić transferred to VfB Stuttgart for an initial fee of €6 million. Following the club's relegation in 2016, he signed with Hamburger SV for €14 million, then a record transfer fee for the club. He later moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018, initially on loan before a permanent deal was finalized. His time there peaked in 2022 when he provided two goals in a 3–2 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou, instrumental in the club's run to the UEFA Europa League title. During that campaign, he earned individual recognition as the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season and lead assist provider.
