A Ford Modelling Agency scout discovered her in Kelowna, leading to non-speaking roles in television series like Smallville and Kingdom Hospital. In 2003, she auditioned for Lost. Securing a work visa proved difficult, requiring nearly 20 applications before she could join the production in Hawaii. She portrayed Kate Austen for the duration of the show's six-season run from 2004 to 2010, appearing in 108 episodes.
Transitions to Film
Following her television tenure, she appeared in the war film The Hurt Locker in 2008 and the sports drama Real Steel in 2011. She expanded her range by joining Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy as the elf Tauriel, a role that required specific training in archery, swordplay, and the Elvish language. These films, The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies, showcased her integration into high-budget franchise productions.
Marvel Cinematic Universe and Literary Work
In 2015, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hope van Dyne, also known as the Wasp, in Ant-Man. This role involved a multi-film contract and continued through the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.
