Evan Fournier

French basketball player

Evan Fournier began his professional basketball journey in 2009 with JSF Nanterre before establishing himself as a significant international presence over a twelve-year NBA tenure. Born in Saint-Maurice in 1992, the French guard eventually transitioned back to European play, securing multiple titles and individual accolades within the competitive landscape of the EuroLeague and the Greek Basketball League.

Early Career and NBA Draft

After developing his skills at the INSEP academy from 2007 to 2009, Fournier played for JSF Nanterre and Poitiers Basket 86. In 2012, the Denver Nuggets selected him as the 20th overall pick in the NBA draft. During his time in Denver, he steadily improved his scoring output, culminating in a 27-point performance against the Sacramento Kings in 2014.

Stints with Orlando, Boston, and New York

Fournier joined the Orlando Magic in 2014, where he experienced a career-best season in 2015-16. He eventually moved to the Boston Celtics in 2021 before joining the New York Knicks. During his Knicks tenure, he set a single-season record for three-pointers made by a franchise player, surpassing the mark established by John Starks in 1995.

Transition to Olympiacos

In September 2024, Fournier signed a three-year contract with the Greek club Olympiacos. His impact was immediate, earning a spot on the All-EuroLeague Second Team in his first season. He contributed to the 2025 Greek championship and secured the 2026 EuroLeague title, receiving the Final Four MVP award for his role in the championship campaign.

National Representation and Honours

A consistent member of the French national team, Fournier has participated in EuroBasket, the FIBA World Cup, and multiple Olympic tournaments. His contributions to French sports were recognized in 2021 when he was named a Knight of the National Order of Merit. He also maintains professional ties through his membership with the emlyon alumni network following his studies at Emlyon Business School.
