Dan Swanö is a Swedish musician and record producer who founded the recording studio Unisound. Born in 1973 in Finspång, he gained prominence as the vocalist and songwriter for the progressive death metal band Edge of Sanity. Early Career and Edge of Sanity
Swanö fronted several bands including Brejn Dedd, Unicorn, Infestdead, and Route Nine. His primary recognition came from his work with Edge of Sanity, where his progressive songwriting style integrated clean and growled vocals. Beyond his creative output, he has maintained a diverse portfolio, contributing vocal talents to Arjen Lucassen’s Star One project and providing guest work for the symphonic metal band Therion on the albums Theli and A’arab Zaraq – Lucid Dreaming.

As the owner of Unisound, formerly known as Gorysound Studio, Swanö has managed recording sessions for numerous projects. The studio was initially established in Finspång but ceased operations around 2001. It was later moved to Swanö’s residence in Örebro. His production credits include work for the band Diabolical Masquerade and the Swedish rock band Another Life, for which he also contributed keyboard performances on the album Memories from Nothing.
Project Collaborations and Solo Endeavors
Swanö has been involved in several unique collaborations, such as the one-off power metal project Steel with members of Opeth, which produced the EP Heavy Metal Machine. His solo work includes the progressive death metal album Moontower, where he performed all instruments. Additionally, he reactivated the project Odyssey in 2009, recording all instrumentation himself for the 2010 release Reinventing the Past. His later work includes the project Witherscape, which released albums such as The Inheritance and The Northern Sanctuary via Century Media Records.
