Adams signed with A&M Records that same year. His fame increased with the 1983 release of the album Cuts Like a Knife. The subsequent 1984 release, Reckless, became the first album by a Canadian artist to receive diamond certification in Canada, driven by popular tracks like Summer of '69 and Heaven.
