Atanda Ayila Yussuf, born in Lagos on 4 November 1984, built a professional career as a defensive midfielder and central defender. His trajectory took him from his native Nigeria to the Ukrainian Premier League, where he spent over a decade within the Dynamo Kyiv organization, alongside participation in major international tournaments for the Nigeria national team.
Early Development and Nigerian Clubs
Yussuf began his professional path at age 16 when he signed with Enyimba International. He subsequently moved to Union Bank, where he played from 2002 until 2003. His performance during these formative years, specifically his involvement with senior squads, attracted the attention of national youth coaches, setting the stage for his move to European football.

In July 2003, Yussuf signed with Dynamo Kyiv following interest from PSV Eindhoven and VfB Stuttgart. His initial integration included appearances for the reserve squad, Dynamo-2 Kyiv, beginning 5 August 2003 against Polissya Zhytomyr. His senior team debut occurred on 21 September 2003 against Zirka Kirovohrad. Despite a severe knee injury that curtailed his 2003–04 season, he achieved a breakthrough on 16 September 2004 by debuting in the UEFA Champions League during a fixture against Roma. Across his tenure with the club, he recorded 120 appearances and 10 goals.
Loans and Later Career
Following a decline in first-team opportunities during the second half of the 2011–12 season, Yussuf sought minutes elsewhere. On 31 January 2013, he transferred to the Turkish Süper Lig side Orduspor on loan, where he made eight appearances and scored one goal. Upon returning to Ukraine, he spent time with Dynamo-2 Kyiv before joining Metalist Kharkiv on 18 February 2014. This loan deal was structured to last until the end of that calendar year.
International Participation
Yussuf represented Nigeria at several high-level competitions. His national service included appearances in the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. He was also a member of the squad that competed in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
