Formative Training and Early Development
Erduran began violin studies at age four under Karl Berger. Her early exposure to the concert stage occurred at age ten, when she performed a benefit recital for the Child Protection Agency at the Saray Cinema, accompanied by Ferdi Statzer. Her formal education included studies at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1946 to 1951, where she graduated with top honors. She subsequently moved to the United States to refine her technique under the guidance of Ivan Galamian and Zino Francescatti until 1955, before pursuing further instruction with David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory.

By 1958, Erduran was premiering works such as the Ulvi Cemal Erkin Violin Concerto in Belgium. Her career included significant international tours, notably to Canada in 1961 and 1962, followed by a middle eastern tour with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in 1963. She made her London debut in 1964 and performed at the Royal Albert Hall the following year. Throughout her career, she collaborated with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, and the RIAS-Symphonie-Orchester, working alongside conductors such as Ernest Ansermet.
Pedagogy and Later Life
Beyond her performance work, Erduran committed to teaching, holding a position at the Lausanne Conservatory in Switzerland from 1973 until 1990. After these two decades abroad, she returned permanently to Istanbul. Even in her later years, she maintained a rigorous practice schedule, playing the violin for several hours daily. She never married, citing the intensive demands of her professional life as the primary factor. Erduran died in Istanbul on 7 January 2025 and was interred at the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
