Early Life and Training
Born in Tel Aviv on 28 June 1969, Ayelet Zurer grew up within a Jewish family. Her mother was a Holocaust survivor from Czechoslovakia, while her father was an Israeli of Russian Jewish descent. She attended the 14th Municipal High School, where she studied theater and performed with the Tel Aviv Scouts band. Following her discharge, she completed three years of acting training at the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio and later refined her craft under George Morison at the Actor's Workshop in New York City before returning to Israel in 1991.

Zurer became a recognizable figure in Israel during the 1990s through her work on the teen drama Inyan Shel Zman. Her transition to lead roles included a performance in the 1998 film Ahava Asura and television appearances in Zinzana. In 2003, she portrayed the title character in Nina's Tragedies, earning an Ophir Award for Best Actress. She further gained recognition for her role as Na'ama Lerner in the series Betipul, which secured her a Best Actress award from the Israeli Television Academy in 2006. Later, she appeared in popular series such as Shtisel in 2013, Losing Alice in 2021, and The Best Worst Thing in 2024.
International Hollywood Career
Her entry into international cinema accelerated with a role in Steven Spielberg's 2005 film Munich, playing the wife of Avner Kaufman. Subsequent roles included parts in the thriller Vantage Point and the role of scientist Vittoria Vetra in the 2009 film Angels & Demons. In 2013, she played Lara Lor-Van in the film Man of Steel. Zurer also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2015, portraying Vanessa Marianna-Fisk in the series Daredevil. She continued this role for the series revival, Daredevil: Born Again, scheduled for 2025 and 2026. Her other international credits include the 2016 film Ben-Hur and a recurring role in the third season of the Netflix series You.
