Olympic Dominance
Szilágyi competed in five Olympic Games, beginning with Beijing in 2008. His breakthrough arrived at the 2012 London Olympics, where he defeated multiple international opponents, including Nikolay Kovalev and Diego Occhiuzzi, to claim his first individual gold. He successfully defended his title in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 by beating Daryl Homer. In Tokyo, he cemented his status in the sport by securing his third consecutive individual gold medal, prevailing over Luigi Samele in the final.

He was part of the Hungarian squad that took gold at the 2007 World Fencing Championships in Saint-Petersburg, earning team of the year recognition. His individual achievements include a gold medal at the 2022 World Championships in Cairo and a continental title in Montreux during the 2014-15 season. He also contributed to a bronze medal finish in the 2021 team event and a silver medal in 2024.
