A hat trick against Brest on 27 April 2025 cemented Amine Gouiri’s role at Marseille, where he scored 10 goals in 14 appearances during his first season. Born in Bourgoin-Jallieu on 16 February 2000, he has transitioned from his youth development at Lyon to becoming a prominent fixture in Ligue 1 and international football for Algeria.
Early Development and Lyon
Gouiri entered the Lyon system in 2013 and signed his first professional contract on 3 July 2017. His progress saw him reach the first team bench at age 16 for a match against Bordeaux in September 2016. He debuted for the senior side on 19 November 2017, substituting for Tanguy Ndombele during a goalless draw with Montpellier.

In July 2020, Gouiri moved to Nice on a four-year contract for a reported fee of €7 million. His debut on 23 August 2020 resulted in two goals against Lens, establishing a club record for the youngest player in 70 years to score twice in a top-flight debut. He also provided a decisive goal in a 1-0 Europa League victory over Hapoel Be'er Sheva in October 2020. He later joined Rennes on 1 September 2022 on a five-year deal.
International Career Transition
After administrative processes concluded in September 2023, Gouiri committed to the Algeria national team. By May 2026, he was named in Vladimir Petković's squad for the FIFA World Cup. His participation included a goal against Jordan during the tournament on 22 June 2026.
Move to Marseille and Honours
The transfer to Marseille occurred on 31 January 2025 for €22 million, inclusive of bonuses. Beyond his club success, he earned the UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Month award in February 2025 and the Ligue 1 Goal of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
