Early Career and Domestic Moves
Before gaining international recognition, Gabr developed his defensive skills at Ismaily SC, where he spent five years from 2007 to 2012. He transitioned to Al Ittihad Alexandria Club in 2012, recording 27 appearances over the next two seasons. His tactical progression during this period earned him a move to Zamalek SC in June 2014, a pivotal transition that aligned with his emergence on the national stage.

During his four-year tenure with Zamalek SC, Gabr contributed to the club's 2014–15 Egyptian Premier League title win. He also secured two Egypt Cup victories in the 2014–15 and 2015–16 seasons, alongside the 2016 Egyptian Super Cup. In early 2018, he moved to England on a six-month loan to West Bromwich Albion. The deal was valued at €500,000, including a conditional purchase option of €2.5 million and a 10% sell-on clause retained by Zamalek. After West Bromwich declined the permanent signing, he returned to Egypt.
International Representation and Pyramids FC
Gabr received his first senior national team call-up in June 2014 from manager Shawky Gharib for a match against Jamaica. He was later selected for the squad that reached the final of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and participated in the 2018 World Cup held in Russia. In July 2018, he signed with Pyramids FC. His time at Pyramids has included winning the 2023–24 Egypt Cup, as well as the 2024–25 CAF Champions League, the 2025 CAF Super Cup, and the 2025 FIFA African–Asian–Pacific Cup.
