Early Career and Al-Ahli Tenure
Before his long-term tenure at Al-Ahli, Al-Mosailem progressed through the youth ranks at Hajer. Following his 2002 acquisition, he made his first-team debut during a Federation Cup group stage match against Ohod, resulting in a 3–1 victory. His league debut followed on 22 October 2005 against Al-Hazem. Throughout his first full season, he accrued 21 appearances across various competitions. He eventually secured 33 appearances in his second season, contributing to the team's victory in the Crown Prince Cup.

Al-Mosailem remained a consistent starter until 2012, when Abdullah Al-Mayouf took over the position. During the 2015 Crown Prince Cup final, Al-Mosailem substituted for the dismissed Al-Mayouf and saved a penalty, contributing to a tournament win. By the 2015–16 season, he reclaimed the starting role and served as a vital component in Al-Ahli's first league title in 32 years. His trophy cabinet includes the 2011, 2012, and 2016 King Cup, the 2016 Saudi Super Cup, and the 2008 Gulf Club Champions Cup.
International Representation
His national team opportunity arose in 2007, when he was selected for the AFC Asian Cup due to the absence of goalkeepers Mabrouk Zaid and Mohammad Khouja. Under coach Helio Anjos, Al-Mosailem helped the squad reach the final. Although injuries prevented his participation in the 2011 and 2015 Asian Cups, he returned to the international stage in 2018. Al-Mosailem announced his departure from Al-Ahli and his retirement from professional football on 15 September 2023, marking the end of an 18-year association with the club. Despite this announcement, he returned to the pitch on 10 August 2024, joining the Saudi First Division League club Jeddah.
