He gained the necessary consent to compete internationally for his new home in 2017, establishing his residence at the Chilean Olympic Center. In 2018, he received formal Chilean citizenship, solidifying his status as a representative for the nation on the global stage.
International Competition and Olympic Success
Upon his return to the mat in 2017, Acosta immediately made an impact by winning a silver medal at the Pan American Wrestling Championships and a bronze at the World Championships. He subsequently earned fifth place at the 2020 Summer Olympics. His record expanded with gold medals at the 2018 and 2022 South American Games and the 2022 Bolivarian Games.
