Tomasz Mirosław Kuszczak, born on 20 March 1982 in Krosno Odrzańskie, played as a professional goalkeeper across Polish, German, and English football leagues. Early Career and Move to England
Kuszczak began his professional path in Germany, joining Hertha BSC in 2000. After spending one year with the reserve team, he was promoted to the senior squad in 2001 but served primarily as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Gábor Király and Christian Fiedler. He made no appearances in the Bundesliga before departing for England. On 14 July 2004, he signed with West Bromwich Albion under manager Gary Megson. He debuted against Fulham on 18 September 2004 and eventually gained prominence during the 2004-05 season by replacing an injured Russell Hoult against Manchester United, helping the club secure vital points in their relegation battle.

In August 2006, Kuszczak joined Manchester United in a complex transfer deal involving Luke Steele and Paul McShane moving to West Bromwich Albion. Initially arriving on loan, he became a permanent signing in July 2007 for £2.125 million. Serving as the primary backup to Edwin van der Sar, he contributed to three Premier League title victories, two Football League Cups, three FA Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Champions League. Despite his successes, his time at Old Trafford included challenges, such as a red card against Portsmouth in the 2008 FA Cup and competition for the starting role against Ben Foster.
Later Career and Retirement
Following his departure from Manchester United, Kuszczak moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2012. He remained with the club until his release at the end of the 2013-14 season. After a brief tenure with Wolverhampton Wanderers during the 2014-15 campaign, he signed with Birmingham City in July 2015. He represented Birmingham until he announced his retirement from professional football in 2019. Beyond his club contributions, he made 14 appearances for the Poland under-21 team and represented the senior national side 11 times. After concluding his playing career, he served as a goalkeeping coach for the Poland national team.
