He attempted to move into international politics in 2014 as a candidate for the European Parliament, but his 26,863 votes proved insufficient to secure a seat. He successfully defended his mandate in 2019, receiving 149,245 votes.
Senate Leadership and Allegations
In November 2019, the Civic Coalition, the Polish People's Party, and the Left nominated Grodzki for the office of Marshal of the Senate. Following his election, his tenure faced scrutiny regarding corruption allegations. In 2021, the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin sought the waiver of his parliamentary immunity related to claims involving financial benefits allegedly accepted in 2006, 2009, and 2012. Grodzki denied these claims and engaged in various defamation legal battles. On 18 May 2022, the Senate refused to consent to his criminal prosecution regarding these charges.
