Tariq Kwame Nii-Lante Lamptey transitioned from a youth career in the English academy system to representing Ghana at the senior international level. Born in Hillingdon on 30 September 2000, he developed his skills at Larkspur Rovers before entering the Chelsea youth setup at eight years old, eventually progressing to professional competition in the Premier League and beyond.
Professional Development at Chelsea
Lamptey made his competitive senior debut for Chelsea on 29 December 2019, entering as a substitute during a 2–1 victory against Arsenal. He was one of several academy graduates integrated into the first team during the managerial tenure of Frank Lampard. His limited tenure at the club included appearances in FA Cup fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Hull City.

In January 2020, Lamptey moved to Brighton & Hove Albion, where he established himself as a Premier League regular. Despite his contributions, his time at the club was frequently interrupted by physical setbacks, including a significant hamstring injury sustained in December 2020 and a knee issue in March 2023. He remained with the team through various contract extensions until his departure in 2025, having contributed to their domestic campaigns and qualification for European competition.
International Representation
Initially a youth international for England, having represented the side from the under-18 to under-21 levels, Lamptey opted to switch his allegiance to Ghana. After receiving clearance from the Ghana Football Association in 2022, he earned his senior debut against Brazil in September of that year. He was subsequently selected for the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.
Later Club Moves
Lamptey moved to the Italian club Fiorentina in September 2025 for a fee of €6 million. His stint in Serie A was hindered by an anterior cruciate ligament tear sustained during a match against Como, which necessitated reconstructive surgery. Following his mutual contract termination with Fiorentina in May 2026, he returned to England to join the EFL Championship club Queens Park Rangers.
