Early Life and Immigration
Born in Tbilisi on 10 January 1981, Tamta began singing at age five. She married a 16-year-old partner at 14 and had a daughter named Annie. After graduating from high school and attending Tbilisi State University, she eventually divorced and immigrated to Greece to join her mother and younger brother. In Athens, she initially worked as a housekeeper, a role she continued even as she pursued initial musical auditions.
Television and Recording Breakthrough
Tamta entered the Greek talent competition Super Idol in 2003 at the recommendation of a family she served. Her runner-up finish led to a contract with Minos EMI and the 2004 release of her debut single, "Eisai To Allo Mou Miso." She won "Best New Artist" at the 2006 Mad Video Music Awards following the release of her debut studio album, Tamta.

Throughout the 2010s, the artist diversified her career beyond the studio. She participated in theatrical productions, including the Greek version of Rent and Cabaret. Her television presence expanded to include judge and mentor roles on X Factor Georgia and The X Factor Greece. Additionally, she collaborated with the fashion brand attrattivo for a clothing collection launched in 2018.
Eurovision Participation
Tamta represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the track "Replay." The performance earned 109 points, resulting in a 13th-place finish. This followed her previous attempt to participate in the contest in 2007, where her song "With Love" reached number two on the Greek singles chart despite not advancing to the international stage.
Contemporary Discography
Entering the 2020s, the artist transitioned into directing her own music videos, including "S' Agapo" and "Hold On." Her release schedule remained consistent with the EP "Awake" in 2020, followed by the studio albums "Identity Crisis" in 2023 and "THE VILLAIN HEROINE" in 2025. She acquired Greek citizenship in 2022.
