Raponda entered the ministerial cabinet in February 2012, serving as the Minister of Budget and Public Finance until January 2014. Following her tenure in finance, she turned to municipal governance, winning an election to become the Mayor of Libreville on 26 January 2014. As a representative of the Gabonese Democratic Party, she was the first woman to lead the capital city since 1956. During this period, she also acted as the president of United Cities and Local Governments Africa.
