Following his tenure at myclimate, Heuberger co-founded South Pole, an organization that grew into one of the largest global climate platforms, eventually employing over 1,000 staff across six continents. The firm acted as both a broker and technical lead for carbon credit schemes. One significant project involved funds directed toward the Lake Kariba region in Zimbabwe. However, media reports by outlets including The New Yorker, Die Zeit, and Follow the Money raised concerns regarding the project's financial transparency and undisclosed trophy-hunting activities within the area. Following these exposés, Heuberger stepped down from his position at South Pole with immediate effect.
Current Roles and Institutional Influence
Heuberger maintains multiple positions of trust and advisory roles. He serves as Chairman of MPower and is a member of the Innovation Council at InnoSuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency. His board memberships include Climate-KIC and the Advisory Board of Impact Hub Zurich.
