Born in Girona, Compte developed his expertise within the technical traditions of the Crown of Aragon. His early career included a significant partnership with Francesc Baldomar, with whom he worked on the Convent of St. Dominic between 1454 and 1457. This period established his reputation for handling large-scale stone masonry and complex structural arrangements.

Compte is recognized as a master of Valencian Gothic art, a style defined by its distinctive verticality and spatial command. His influence in the region was cemented through his leadership on major infrastructure and ecclesiastical projects. Notably, he directed construction efforts at the Cathedral of Valencia starting in 1479 and oversaw significant modifications to the Torres de Quart beginning in 1468. He also contributed a chapel to the church of Sant Nicolau in 1476.
Patronage and Legacy
The House of Borgia became a key patron for Compte, commissioning his work at the Monastery of Sant Jeroni de Cotalba near Gandia. His contributions there included a gothic stair and the intricate sculptures of the upper cloister. Beyond Gandia, his professional reach extended to the Collegiate of Gandia, the Cathedral of Tortosa, and the Cathedral of Orihuela. He also performed works at the Col·legi de l'Art Major de la Seda in Valencia.
