Between 1993 and 2005, she served as a program officer at the Southern African Regional Institute for Policy Studies in Zimbabwe. During this period, she edited the Southern African Feminist Review from 1995 to 2000 and held the role of international dean at the International Women's University in Hanover from 1998 to 2000. Her teaching career includes faculty roles at Cornell University, Spelman College, Smith College, and Syracuse University.
Scholarship and Advocacy
Her body of work addresses sexuality, HIV and AIDS, and patriarchy. She authored books including Gender in Southern Africa: A Gendered Perspective and Reflections on Gender Issues in Africa.
