Since the 1988 debut of her album Mademoiselle chante..., Patricia Kaas has established a career as a versatile performer, moving between pop, cabaret, and jazz. Her professional path, beginning in Forbach, France, evolved from early club appearances in the Saarbrücken region to international stages, culminating in over 20 million records sold worldwide and a significant presence in global music charts.
Early Musical Foundations
Born in 1966, Kaas grew up in Stiring-Wendel near the German border. Influenced by her mother to pursue singing, she performed at various events from a young age. By age 13, she signed a contract with the Rumpelkammer club in Saarbrücken. During this formative period, she adopted the stage name Pady Pax and performed for seven years with the brass band Dob's Lady Killers. Her initial attempts to secure a music career were supported by the architect Bernard Schwartz, although early professional efforts encountered significant rejection.
