Professional Origins and Training
Born in 1885 in Bergen, Landmark completed his secondary education at Trondheim Cathedral School. His technical formation took place at the Trondhjems Tekniske Læreanstalt, an institution that functioned as a precursor to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. To further his professional development, he undertook study trips to Sweden, Germany, and France. Before launching his independent office, he served as an assistant to Schak Bull and Einar Oscar Schou.

Landmark was prolific during the interwar period. His portfolio includes several significant cultural and institutional landmarks in Bergen. He designed the gallery building for the Rasmus Meyer Collection, which opened in 1924, and the Bergen Kunsthall, completed in 1934. His design work also extended to religious and civic infrastructure, including the Town Hall in Bouchavesnes-Bergen, Loddefjord Church, Storetveit Church, and the Forum Kino.
Awards and Recognition
The architect received the Houen Foundation Award twice: in 1925 for the Villa Westfal-Larsen and in 1932 for Storetveit Church. In 1955, he was appointed a Knight of the 1st Class of the Order of St. Olav. Beyond his domestic acclaim, he earned various foreign honors throughout his professional tenure. His restoration projects, including work at Store Milde and Thomas Erichsens Minde, also highlighted his technical approach to historic preservation.
