Nayef Aguerd, a professional centre-back, launched his career at the Mohammed VI Academy before joining the Moroccan side FUS Rabat in 2014. Early Career and Moroccan Success
Raised in Kenitra, Aguerd developed through the Mohammed VI Academy system. After securing a professional contract with FUS Rabat in 2014, he helped the club reach the 2015 Throne Cup final. His performance in the Botola league drew attention, marked by early goals against Wydad AC and UMS de Loum. During his tenure, the team captured the 2015-16 Botola Pro title.
European Development
Aguerd transitioned to French football in 2018, signing with Dijon. He debuted with a goal against Nice on 25 August 2018. In 2020, he moved to Rennes for a fee between €4 million and €5 million. During his time at Rennes, he earned individual recognition, placing third for the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé in 2022 and scoring his first European goal against Rosenborg.

In June 2022, West Ham United acquired Aguerd on a five-year deal for £30 million. Despite an ankle injury early in his tenure, he became a fixture in the squad, scoring his first Premier League goal against Southampton in April 2023. He played a key role in the 2022-23 UEFA Europa Conference League victory against Fiorentina. He departed West Ham in September 2025 after 61 appearances.
National Team Representation
Aguerd debuted for Morocco in 2016. He was pivotal in the 2018 African Nations Championship win and represented the nation during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco reached the semi-finals. He was also selected for the 2021, 2023, and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. In 2022, he received the Order of the Throne.
Return to France
Following a 2024-25 season loan at Real Sociedad, Aguerd signed with Marseille in September 2025 on a contract running until 2030 for approximately €23 million. He immediately impacted the team by scoring on his debut against Lorient. By 2026, he remained an active participant in high-level competitive football, despite minor injury setbacks during his professional trajectory.
