International Performance

Al-Aqidi rose to prominence with the Saudi Arabia U23 team during the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup. He maintained a defensive record that saw the team claim the title without conceding a goal, with the exception of a draw against Japan. His performance earned him the tournament's Best Goalkeeper award. Later that year, he represented the nation at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey. He remained unbeaten in the group stage until the semi-final against Algeria, where he conceded a penalty. In the tournament final, he allowed the first open-play goal of his campaign during a 0–1 defeat to Turkey.

Senior National Team Involvement

His integration into the senior national setup began with a call-up for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, though he did not record an appearance. He was subsequently named to the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, serving as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Mohammed Al-Owais and Mohammed Al-Rubaie. While he started all three matches for Saudi Arabia during the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, he was later excluded from the squad for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup under the direction of manager Roberto Mancini.
