Born in Kumasi, Ghana, on 20 December 1993, he developed his footballing skills as a young player before transitioning his professional career to the Qatari league system.
Early Development and Transition
Muntari began his formal training at the Golden Lions Soccer Academy, an institution founded by former Ghanaian international Nii Lamptey. His career trajectory shifted when he relocated to Qatar, eventually acquiring citizenship. This move allowed him to integrate into the domestic football landscape, serving as the foundation for both his club performance and his eventual international status.

The striker officially launched his professional journey in 2012. He joined El Jaish in 2012, where he secured a Qatari Stars Cup title in the 2012–13 season and a Qatar Cup in 2014. During his tenure with El Jaish from 2013 to 2015, he recorded 18 goals across 45 appearances. In July 2015, he entered into a five-year agreement with Lekhwiya, now known as Al-Duhail SC. His time with Al-Duhail proved productive, resulting in Qatar Stars League titles in 2016–17 and 2019–20, alongside Emir of Qatar Cup victories in 2016, 2019, and 2022. Additionally, he participated in loan spells at Al Ahli SC during the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons, contributing 6 total goals across those periods. He currently plays for Al-Gharafa.
International Representation
Muntari received his first call-up to the Qatar national team in December 2014. His debut occurred on 27 December 2014 against Estonia, a match in which he scored his inaugural international goal. Throughout his time with the squad, he participated in several major tournaments, including the 2015 AFC Asian Cup held in Melbourne, the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup, the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. By the end of his recorded international appearances, he had accumulated 70 caps and 16 goals.
