Mitchell-Elijah Weiser began his professional football career in the 2005-06 season with the 1. FC Köln youth department, eventually emerging as the youngest player to debut for the club's first team. Since then, the Troisdorf-born athlete has established himself as a versatile right-back and right wing-back within the German league system and recently shifted his international eligibility to Algeria.
Early Career and Bundesliga Breakthrough
The son of former professional Patrick Weiser, the younger Weiser spent formative years playing for TV Eintracht Veltenhof in Braunschweig. By 2011, he secured a cup title with the 1. FC Köln U-17 team. His senior debut occurred on 25 February 2012 against Bayer Leverkusen. Later that year, he transferred to Bayern Munich on a contract intended to run through 2015. During his tenure there, he experienced a loan period at 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern in early 2013.

While at Bayern Munich, Weiser made his UEFA Champions League debut on 5 November 2013, substituting for Mario Götze during a victory against Viktoria Plzeň. His first Bundesliga goal for the club arrived on 21 February 2015 during a 6-0 result against SC Paderborn 07. In June 2015, he signed with Hertha BSC, where he eventually extended his contract until 2020. During his three seasons in Berlin, he contributed to the team across 85 appearances in various competitions before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in 2018.
Transition to Werder Bremen
In August 2021, Weiser joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan, scoring in his starting debut against FC Ingolstadt. He transitioned to a permanent deal in July 2022. A notable moment occurred on 21 January 2024, when his singular goal against his former club, Bayern Munich, secured Werder Bremen's first away win at the Allianz Arena since 2008.
International Competition
Weiser represented Germany across multiple youth levels, debuting for the U-16s in 2010. He participated in the 2011 UEFA European U-17 Championship and the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, where the squad secured third place. He notably scored the winning header for the Germany U-21 team in the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final against Spain. Drawing on his maternal Algerian heritage, he completed a federation switch to represent Algeria in October 2024.
