Dmitrović emerged from the Red Star Belgrade youth system and received a promotion to the senior squad in 2010. By 3 September 2013, he completed a move to Újpest FC in Hungary. A loan to AD Alcorcón in July 2015 preceded a permanent three-year contract. In 2017, he joined SD Eibar, where he earned internal honors as the club’s best player for the 2017–18 season. Subsequent years involved a move to Sevilla, followed by a transfer to Leganés in August 2024 and finally RCD Espanyol in June 2025.

His senior international debut for Serbia occurred on 14 November 2017 during a friendly fixture against South Korea.
