Ukrainian canoeist

A silver medal in the C-1 event at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics marked the international debut for Liudmyla Volodymyrivna Luzan. Since that initial achievement, the Ukrainian sprint canoeist has secured a place as an eight-time World champion and an eight-time European champion, consistently performing at the highest levels of global competition within her discipline.

Early Development and Education

Born on 27 March 1997 in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, Luzan pursued formal training at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. Her progression from youth-level competition to senior events accelerated following her 2014 youth podium finish. By 2018, she recorded her first international senior medal, a bronze in the C-1 500 metres at the European Championships.

Olympic and International Success

Luzan reached the Olympic podium at the 2020 Summer Olympics, earning a silver medal in the C-2 500 metres alongside Anastasiia Chetverikova and a bronze in the C-1 200 metres. Her Olympic record expanded at the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she added another silver medal in the C-2 500 metres event, this time partnered with Anastasiia Rybachok.

Championship Records

Her career is defined by repeated victories at both World and European Championships. In 2021, she claimed gold at the European Championships in both the C-1 500 metres and the C-2 500 metres. The following year, at the 2022 World Championships, she secured gold medals in the C-1 500 metres and C-1 1000 metres. At the 2023 European Games, she achieved further gold in the C-1 500 metres and the C-2 500 metres with Valeriia Tereta.
