Early Career and Development
Borch started rowing in 2001. After an initial period in the sport, he stepped away to pursue handball and kickboxing before ultimately returning to the water. His international competition debut occurred at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Beijing, where he participated in the quad scull. By 2008, he transitioned to the double scull, competing at the World Junior Championships in Ottensheim with Bjørn Jostein Singstad. In 2009, he earned a bronze medal at the World U23 Championships in Račice, rowing with Truls Albert.

Joining the Norwegian senior men's squad in 2010, Borch began a long-standing partnership with Nils Jakob Hoff. The duo achieved a fourth-place finish at the 2010 World Championships in Cambridge and captured bronze at the 2012 European Championships in Varese. Following his 2012 Olympic debut in London, where the pair placed seventh, they secured gold at the 2013 World Championships in Chungju and bronze at the 2013 European Championships in Seville. In 2016, he partnered with Olaf Tufte, winning a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Transition to Single Sculls
In 2018, Borch shifted his focus to the single scull. This change yielded immediate results with gold medals at both the European Championships in Glasgow and the World Championships in Plovdiv. He continued his competitive output with a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships and a bronze at the 2020 European Championships. His most recent Olympic appearance was at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, where he competed in the double sculls alongside Martin Helseth, finishing in tenth place.
