Kang Seul-gi began her training tenure at SM Entertainment in 2007, marking the start of a career that eventually led to her 2014 debut with the girl group Red Velvet. Formative Years and Training
Born in Ansan on February 10, 1994, Kang attended Byulmang Middle School and later the School of Performing Arts Seoul. Her formal entry into the music industry occurred when she joined SM Entertainment as a trainee in 2007. In late 2013, she gained public visibility as one of the inaugural members of the SM Rookies project alongside Taeyong and Jeno, participating in early performance demonstrations.

Following her official introduction as a Red Velvet member in August 2014, Kang diversified her workload. She performed as Dorothy in the musical School Oz and appeared on television shows such as Off to School and Idol Drama Operation Team. Her musical collaborations during this period included featured roles on tracks by Henry Lau, Mark, and Taemin, while she also recorded soundtrack contributions for dramas like Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth.
Expansion into Sub-units and Solo Work
In 2020, Kang joined the Red Velvet sub-unit Irene & Seulgi, which released the EP Monster. By 2021, she began hosting the Naver Now live show Seulgi.zip and expanded her digital presence. Her debut solo EP, 28 Reasons, arrived in October 2022. Beyond her primary group, she joined the supergroup Got the Beat in 2022 and continues to release soundtrack material and collaborate with artists including BamBam and Kim Wan-sun.
